The second half changed imo, mainly because Bowen was given a free role to roam where he wanted to, and so was popping up all over the place to receive the ball, whereas he’d stuck mainly to the right wing in the first half, where Scanlon did a more than decent job of handling him.
The warning signs were there after their first goal – Bowen is such a talent that if you give him time and space on the ball, as we did in the second half, then he’s likely to hurt you, which he did!
Seeing the impact Bowen was having, I wonder whether it would have been an idea to put someone like Joel Colwill doing a marking job on him, but that doesn’t seem to be BBM’s style.
Seeing how our patched up defence struggled in the second half, I was pleased overall to get a point.
It seems we may not get any reinforcements back until after the international break though.
BBM didn’t sound that confident in his recent interview that Bielyk would be available for the Burnley game this Saturday, and he also revealed that Osho, who we hoped would be available after his three match suspension, will be missing due to a knee injury!
And I don’t want to sound overly negative, but I’m sure our upcoming opponents will see that 5 of the 6 goals conceded in our last two games were balls hit into the space behind our central defenders, which attacking players were too easily able to run onto and score!
