    Thanks as ever Paul…
I was amused before the game to see Birmingham’s American owner on a walkaround the 4 sides of the pitch, shaking hands with the fans who were in their seats early. I thought to myself ‘you should leave this PR exercise for a week or three until you know you are safe’. And my fears that he might be tempting fate were justified.

It was every bit as poor a game as the reverse fixture in mid-December… which we lost due to a Runarsson semi error in letting Bacuna round him so effortlessly.

Colwill really shone last night, as did Collins (the latter not before time recapturing his early form when first signing for us). But gosh, it was dreary stuff.

Paul, you and I both said when it was mooted that Bale and Ramsey become City players for their swansongs, that we should steer clear unless they were hired on a pay-to-play basis. And our fears have proved justified.

That said, we were both favourably impressed with Rambo’s performances until he got his first big injury in the late autumn.

I think it is now time for him to hang up his boots… and become a manager… probably in the mode of a wannabe Arsène Wenger. (Yes, you’ve guessed… I have my personal fears as to the defensive mix-ups that will result…!! But at least it will be more entertaining than Bulutball.)

But I fear Erol Bulut is now staying. Dalmut will be leaning as heavily as he can on Vincent to give the chap a second season.

Thanks Dai, my feeling with no “in the know” info to back it up is that Erol Bulut won’t be our manager next season. I notice he said that he had positive discussions with Mehment Dalman after the Birmingham game, but, as he himself admitted, whether he gets another contract or not is solely down to one man and I just have this feeling that the whole thing would have been sorted out by now if Vincent Tan was minded to renew his contract. If Mr Tan decides not to keep our current manager, then he’ll have my backing, but you have much more faith in our owner than me and I would expect another duff appointment (maybe even Michael Duff) to follow. As for Aaron Ramsey, I could see Mr Tan being tempted by an appointment that would, I’m sure, be popular with supporters in the short term at least – I must admit that I would have no great expectation of Rambo making a great manager, but, after so many poor appointments and so much garbage football served up for home fans especially, my attitude is why not give him a try i he was interested in the job.
