Six Leicester City related questions covering the past sixty years or so – the answers will be posted on here on matchday morning.
60s. Who am I describing here? Signed from Leicester during the sixties, his three goals for City in the Football League came in matches against Blackpool, Blackburn and Portsmouth.
70s. Another player to identify from a set of clues.
It would have been a second appearance in the City first team if this one time regular in the Borough Arms on Sunday nights had got on to the pitch at Filbert Street nearly three months after being given a start in a game against sharp opponents in Yorkshire. Subsequent meetings with Leicester during his time with us saw him enjoy some success before he moved on to another Welsh team. He then became a Man of Kent for a short while before having almost three years with a club which was at, or very close to, it’s lowest ebb up until then. His last Football League club was not too far away from home, but he only lasted a season there and left the professional game after almost a decade which had not seen him live up to the promise he had shown as a teenager – he was last heard of moving stuff about at a location you may well pass if you’re going to Cardiff Bay.
80s. This member of a Leicester side beaten in Cardiff in this decade was a defender who, unfortunately, passed away only a fortnight ago. At his first club, he was part of a team which won promotion to the old First Division and then he repeated the achievement with Leicester a year later, but can you name him?
90s. This alliterative and very well traveled forward began at Leicester during this decade, but probably enjoyed most success at his second club, situated in the second city, following a seven figure move. A similar fee saw him go to a team which was just beginning a decline which has only shown some signs of being arrested in the last year or two. he then moved away from the Midlands for the first time to another club on a downward slide which some claim started at Cardiff. He did well during a loan spell by the M5, but turned a permanent move there down in favour of a League Two team now playing in the National League North. His next team have also made the move from League Two, when he played for them, to current members of the National League North, but they both compare favourably with the sides he has played for since then – it reads like a who’s who of lower league teams in the north east Midlands, but he shows no sign of packing up yet and in July he joined Aslockton & Orston at the age of forty four.

00s. There must be something in the water at Leicester which encourages career longevity, because the man pictured, who was part of a Foxes side beaten at Ninian Park during this decade, only retired from professional football at the end of last season when he was forty six – who is he?

60s. Malcom Clarke.
70s. Tarki Micaleff made his debut for City at Sheffield United in December 1978 and was an unused sub in a 2-1 win at Filbert Street in the following March. After leaving us for the first time, he played for Newport , then Gillingham before returning to us to play in the awful Durban team of the mid eighties. His last move saw him turning out for Bristol Rovers and, in later years, he has worked as a stagehand at the Welsh National Opera.
80s. Geoff Scott was promoted with Stoke to the First Division in 1979 and then was a member of the Leicster side which went up a year later – he was also in a Leicester side beaten 3-1 in Cardiff in November 1981 following their relegation.
90s. Julian Joachim played for Villa, Coventry, Leeds, Walsall, Boston and Darlington before turning out for a plethora of lower level clubs and there may be more to come yet!
