Just a note to outline the current position regarding the book which went on sale on the day of the Swansea match. If you have already bought your books, then most of what follows won’t be of interest to you, but I would appreciate it very much if you could persevere to the end for reasons which will soon become clear.

To those of you who haven’t purchased a book yet and are still thinking of doing so, I can confirm that I will be at the Trust Office selling books from 2.00 to 3.45 before Sunday’s match and there will be at least one of us there from 6 to 6.30 after the game as well – we’ll almost certainly be selling before and after the Arsenal match a week tomorrow as well.
Books can also be bought on here from the PayPal link
There is now another way to buy it as well.

From this week, the book is available on Amazon.
because the position of the product on any search is based on sales, The Journey Back doesn’t currently feature when you put in search terms such as “Cardiff City”, “Cardiff City books” or “The Journey Back” – it needs to be searched as “The Journey Back Cardiff City”. Therefore we need to start selling some books on there to get it moving up the charts so to speak and one way of generating interest would be through getting some good reviews on there.
So, if you’ve got the book and have the time, would you be interested in putting a review of it on Amazon? I know I’m leaving myself open to critical as well as complimentary comments there, but, if that’s the way you feel then so be it – I’d like to think it would still help to increase the book’s profile on Amazon.
Thank you to those who managed to make it the end!

Two decades of Cardiff v Man United matches.

CoymayA very small drawback to playing some of the biggest teams in the land this season is that, in most cases, I don’t have six decades worth of fixtures against these teams to call upon when setting this quiz – in the case of Sunday’s opponents, we’ve only played them in two of the last six decades and in one of those these fixtures occurred before I started supporting the club. So, I’m stretching a point a bit here with this weeks questions – the Man United/Cardiff connection is tenuous at best in some of them.

Anyway, here are the questions – the answers will be put on here tomorrow as usual.

60’s. Name the player who scored his only goal for City in a 3-0 win over Manchester United at Ninian Park in November 1960.

70’s. This player was released by City at the end of the 74/75 season, but he was in the starting line up for the notorious match with Manchester United at Ninian Park early in that season and was an unused sub in the return fixture between the teams in March. Can you name him and also, who was the youngster making only his second league appearance who was a starter in the game at Old Trafford?

80’s. This man made history in a Manchester United match during this decade, can you name him and how did he get his name into the history books?

90’s. These two players both scored goals against City during the nineties. The first was a member of  “Fergie’s fledglings”, the group of young players Sir Alex Ferguson gave first team debuts to at Manchester United in the late 80’s. His goal against us came while playing for the club he joined after being released by United in the early nineties – he played over 150 times for his new club. The first player made senior team appearances for Man United, but the best the second player did at Old Trafford was to be part of a Youth Cup winning side. Within months of him being released by the Old Trafford club he was scoring the winning goal in a game at Ninian Park  – this striker later went on to win senior caps for Jamaica, can you name him and the other ex Man United player I referred to?

00’s. A thank you to Terry Phillips for this question – Ryan Giggs is one Cardiff born player who was on Man United’s books during this decade, can you name another one?

10’s. Name the last Manchester United player to score at Cardiff City Stadium.

Answers.

60’s. Brian Edgley.

70’s. Jimmy Mcinch and David Giles.

80’s Peter Willis who was the first referee to send a player of in an FA Cup final when he dismissed Kevin Moran in the Man United v Everton match in 1985.

90’s. Russell Beardsmore and David Johnson.

00’s. Ramon Calliste.

10’s. Michael Keane who was on loan to Leicester at the time.
