Bernard Lewis.

Just a very quick message about the City winger from the sixties, Bernard Lewis.

The Southend United former players group have been in touch with the blog asking if I could help them to trace their former player, Bernard Lewis who joined them in 1970 from Watford, having left us three years earlier to join the Hornets.

I’m afraid I couldn’t help, but said I’d put something out on MAYA to see if a reader could come up with his current whereabouts – if anyone can, would you let me know please and I can forward the information on.

Given the, hopefully, unique circumstances of this Christmas, it seems to me that we may see a much increased number of gift tokens/cards given as presents. Therefore if you’re a City supporting receiver of such a gift why not take a look at my new book “Real Madrid and all that” when cashing in your present? In fact, if you’re buying for a City supporter or are one yourself, you could do a lot worse than buying a book which has received excellent reviews (with one exception!) – here are details of what the book is about, what formats it can be bought in and where it can be bought, you can also read its mixed reviews!

Christmas greetings from the Owl Centre.

Merry Christmas everyone! I’m pleased to confirm that the partnership arrangement this blog has had with the Owl Centre will be continuing throughout 2021 – here’s a message from Rhodri about what has, hardly surprisingly, been a testing year for the Centre;-

“Paul has asked me to write a short update about The Owl Centre as we come to the close of a year that no one would have imagined or certainly wanted. I will indeed keep this short, in part because, like so many others, lockdowns and other restrictions have affected our ability to deliver therapy, particularly in schools, meaning that there is not a lot of news to report. However, after a difficult mid-season (!), we bounced back in November to enjoy our busiest month since The Owl Centre was founded in 2011.

Looking forward to 2021, the NHS has received additional funding to help clear waiting lists that have grown even larger on account of the COVID-19 restrictions. As such, we’ve been in discussions with trusts in Gloucestershire and Manchester to provide assessments for Autism for adults and children. We hope that these discussions come to fruition, and that, as with the UK government’s discussions with the EU, we come away with a ‘deal’.

From everyone at The Owl Centre, we’d like to wish Paul and all of the followers of his blog a very merry Christmas (despite the closure of the pubs!) and a 2021 that more than makes up for 2020’s difficulties and deprivations. Also, on a personal note, I wish Paul the best of luck with the sales of his ‘Real Madrid and all that’ book, and The Owl Centre looks forward to continuing its sponsorship of his blog in 2021.”
