This morning I finished my final proof read of my book “Real Madrid and all that” (1970/71, the season which defined Cardiff City for the rest of the twentieth century) which commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of the tie against, arguably, the greatest club side in the world, and have passed it to Amazon for them to check – if they do not find any issues, the book will be published and go on sale with them in the next few days.
The book is being published under a scheme whereby printing costs are kept at a manageable rate for me, but it does mean that it can only be purchased through Amazon.
The paperback, which has around 280 pages, will be available for £9.99 and it’s also being sold as an e book which will cost £7.50.
As for what the book is about, here’s the blurb which will be on the back cover of the paperback;-
“Real Madrid and all that is not just a chronicle of those two matches against the Spanish giants, it’s also a review of each game played by City in the momentous 1970/71 campaign.
There’s also a chapter on Jimmy Scoular’s early years at Cardiff, a comprehensive breakdown of the controversial sale of John Toshack, homage to the greatest Cardiff City goal I’ve ever seen, an examination of a traumatic few weeks for a newly signed goalkeeper, marvelling at Alan Warboys’ one man demolition of Carlisle, my hero worship of the great Ian Gibson and occasional nods to life outside of Cardiff City in the early seventies.”
I’ll keep you up to date on progress and, hopefully, will be able to tell you when it is available soon.
Thanks Paul. You will definitely have sold one!
Hello Paul,
here is your foreign correspondent (not commented for ages but always reading).
I was corresponding with a certain Peter King the other day. I told him about your forthcoming book and he is looking forward to it. (he still has Zoco’s Jersey) So you have sold another one there.
