I think there is every chance that Southampton would be willing to sell Sam Gallagher, who scored twelve times during his season long loan at Blackburn, this summer and, with only one year left on his contract, the asking price for him would probably not be prohibitive. Still, it would be a signal that City were more serious about a proper promotion bid than they have been since the days when Ole Solskjaer was in charge – I wouldn’t be surprised if we have targeted him, but I’d say it would be long odds on us getting him.
