Six decades of Cardiff City v Sheffield United matches – a couple of days late!

I’m hoping things will be returning to something like normality following my house move in the next few days and then you’ll start seeing the normal timetable for things like this quiz – in the meantime, there’s no reason why we can’t have one a day after we play someone, rather than the day before!

I’ll post the answers on here tomorrow or Thursday.

60s. He signed for City live on regional television and also played for the old Football League representative team – besides that, he scored a goal in a famous win which all who saw it will never forget (I was too young to be there) and also played twice for us during this decade against Sheffield United, who am I describing?

70s. Can you identify the one time international manager talking here and who is the Sheffield United player from this decade he is talking about?

“I don’t think many people will know I actually played with……. at Dundee. It was the smallest right side of midfield the club ever had. People will say …….. lived life to the full on and off the pitch. I lived life to the full with him just one day and my liver is still recovering. It was only one day but it felt like a week, but it was great fun. I would never give that day back.”

80s. Better known for his time with a side who wore the same kit as the Blades, which Sheffield United full back from this decade got a mention on the sleeve for a 1986 single which peaked at number three in the charts – apparently the band involved had “more striking power than Lineker, Platini and ………….”!

90s. Who is the Sheffield United player in this picture?

00s. He was substituted at half time in a Football League game yesterday, but was a scorer for Sheffield United against us early in this decade, who is he?

10s. He played his first senior game for Ferencvaros, made his debut for Sheffield United against us and received the first of only two career red cards against us, before moving to the Midlands and the Premier League where he scored his first goal for his new club against the jacks. His next move took him back to the Championship, but only for the one season and he is now appearing regularly in the top flight for a side that are chasing a place in Europe this season – who is he?
