Six decades of Cardiff City v Ipswich Town matches.

 

Here’s the latest quiz based on matches played against our next opponents over the last six decades – the answers will be posted on here tomorrow.

60’s. Name the City full back who played twice against Ipswich in the 60’s and spent sixteen years  at Portman Road in the 70’s and 80’s.

70’s. Ipswich were FA Cup winners in 1978 and began their run to Wembley with 2-0 win at Ninian Park in the Third Round – their side that day had five players who represented England in it, can you name them?

80’s. Ipswich were back in Cardiff in the FA Cup in 1983/84 winning 3-0 in the Third Round, but can you name the member of the City team that day who was sent off in the previous season for fighting with Dave Bennett?

90’s. No games against Ipswich in this decade, so can you tell me who was the self confessed City fan who played for Ipswich in their 9-0 defeat at Old Trafford in 1994/95?

00’s. The Ipswich team beaten 1-0 at Ninian Park in 2007/08 contained two ex City players and someone who did the Ayatollah after scoring at the Vetch, can you name them?

10’s. Name the Cardiff born utility player, who left the club this summer without playing a first team game, who was an unused sub in our visit to Portman Road in 2009/10.

60’s. Bobby Ferguson.

70’s. Mick Mills, Russell Osman, Brian Talbot, Paul Mariner and Eric Gates.

80’s. Marshall Burke of Lincoln was on loan to City at the time and started against Ipswich – in November 1982 he and Dave Bennett had been sent off for fighting during our 2-1 defeat at Sincil Bank.

90’s. Geraint Williams.

00’s. Neil Alexander and Alan Lee – Gavin Williams was the player who did the Ayatollah against Swansea.

10’s. Jon Meades.
