Real Madrid and all that (1970/71 remembered) now available in e book and paperback formats.

Just a quick note to say that my new book Real Madrid and all that can now be bought from Amazon at;-

As mentioned yesterday, the prohibitive cost of printing meant that I had to choose a method by which the book would only be available at Amazon, but , maybe, if sales went really well, I could buy a small number of paperbacks myself and try to get local retail outlets to take some.

Needless to say, I will welcome all sales and I know that there will be some who will always favour a book they can handle over the electronic version -I’m a bit like that myself. However, for anyone who is happy with either format, can I be a mercenary for a while and just mention that, despite costing more to buy, I will get less than a quarter of the cost price of the book as my “royalty” from a paperback sale, whereas I will receive two thirds of the price of the e book, so I get twice as much for an e book sale as I do for a paperback one.

Having got that out of the way, I do hope anyone who buys the book gets as much enjoyment from it as I did from researching and writing it. I’ve worked on it for the past eighteen months and during that time I’ve had something confirmed that I knew already – 1970/71, for all that it could have been so much better and it cast a long shadow over the club, is my favourite Cardiff City season.

    Just downloaded it, Paul.

    Thanks.

  2. Clive Harry says:

I’m afraid I don’t like ebooks Paul but I have ordered the paperback.

  3. Richard Holt says:

Good luck with this Paul. Hope it gets the healthy sales it deserves – I’ve ordered my paperback copy today.

  4. Mark Adams says:

Have just bought it for my kindle. Normally would have gone for the paperback for a City Book but also trying to reduce my collection ahead of possible downsizing so happy to go along with your request – anyone want to but a full set of Rothman’s ? 🙂 )

Thanks very much to all of you for your replies – I think I may make it into double figures with sales!

Adrian, it’s good to hear from you again. I must admit it did cross my mind to contact you about Peter King doing a foreword for the book, but the formatting of it was taking so long that I rather ran out of time and so never got around to it, but, maybe, some time in the future, I could ask if he would be willing to do a Q and A for the blog?

Clive, there’s no way I’m going to hold it against anyone for buying a paperback – especially those who have been great supporters of the blog down the years!

Richard, thanks for the loan of those programmes, I’d heard some right horror stories about designing an acceptable cover on the Amazon software, but, thanks to you, I managed to put together something that I’m quite pleased and proud of.

Mark, although some of them are pretty dog eared now, I have a full set of Rothmans’ apart from the third one that covers the 1971/72 season which I lost somewhere along the line, so, although I wouldn’t want all of them, I could be interested in buying that one!

Have also downloaded and hope to see it get healthy sales amongst the City supporting community?

Thanks Huw, hope you’re enjoying it!
