Thanks Paul , it was a joy to see the young lads Harris Meite included hopefully someone gives us a low down on thier debuts, or even better get a run against the tired legs of Huddersfield.

Great result for u16 ‘so nice to beat the Jack’s at any level .

I thought we might lose at Wigan but as with Forest neither seem to have the fight against us ? although Forest won yesterday , perhaps they were keeping thier powder dry for yesterday.

The Cambrian and Clydach piece was a good read thanks for the link, it’s strange but some areas do have hot spot talent pools I remember Hartridge School in Newport being one , as for Rugby the infamous Pencoed was a gold mine of talent.

Why can’t we invest in these projects with serious money funded jointly by pooled funds from all Welsh clubs and WFA, the clubs then would have a pick per team process like the NFL draft, this would help clubs like Newport and Wrexham nuture talent ,and keep them from the claws of wealthy English clubs .

Well Paul many thanks for your thought provoking information each week on the games that have in my mind improved greatly NW arrived, until yesterday !!
Like you I believe that we need an impetus to go into next season and although the goals against column is looking up we haven’t really been tested lately by the top half teams.
The team announced yesterday made my mind up that before a ball was kicked the game would be heading to a 0-0 draw unless something out of the ordinary happened.
Watching Wigan I realised it wasn’t going to come from them and to be honest it did not look as though we had the players to create anything.
We have two games in which to create a run against the top teams in the division. I don’t think playing the young lads at this stage is beneficial for them or the team.

I have total faith in NW but fear that we are looking at losing one of our best players in manga. This type of player is the quality that is needed to get to grips o a promotion run next season. If he costs a bit more it just could be the difference. If his agent turns his head and he decides to leave there is not much we can do. The football he is playing is going to interest a lot of clubs and he is doing it very professionally, I do hope that he also looks at the future rather than a quick fix into a lower premiership team who we could pass at the end of next year as we stake our claim for the premier league once more
It may be that the wage is a problem but heaven help us if we fail to make an impact because of defensive frailties next season.
The players that come in have to be a higher quality than the ones we have at present especially in the positions we need to boost creativity. I believe that NW has already done this and is waiting for the end of the season to get the players in long before the fixture list is produced.
Did anyone else notice the throw away remark about Tammy wilbraham or was I dreaming.
Anyway having gone through this season starting on a low , building up to a chance of a top six position then back down to reality in the fact that we just didn’t have the quality to surge up the league, I can say that the next season is the first in 3 years that I am actually looking forward to.
The ghost of slade will be banished for good and we should have our team back in the good hands of NW

Not got much time, so this will have to be very brief.
Russell, I see a reply has been received to the Cambrian and Clydach piece claiming that the club are “hoovering” up all of the local young talent and making life harder for the other clubs in the RCT area. What you propose may go some way to preventing a situation like that occurring (if indeed it has done), but there could be problems with things like quotas – e.g. would it be limited to clubs within the Welsh pyramid structure (i.e. not the Cardiff, Swansea, Newport, Wrexham, Merthyr etc) and would the players at Cambrian and Clydach be happy with a situation where they were, perhaps, prevented from playing for anyone else but FAW affiliated clubs?
Barry, maybe you were dreaming about Tammy Wilbraham! Regarding players coming in, I think I’ve mentioned before on here that if we are speaking to players and their agents now, it seems to me that most, if not all, of these potential signings will be Bosmans – that makes sense as far as I’m concerned.

  5. Colin Phillips says:

Paul, is there a list of these Bosnians anywhere online?

  6. Colin Phillips says:

    Bosmans that should read!
