Thanks Paul for both reports u18 and Warnock wonders.

To say I enjoyed it yesterday would be an understatement, yes ,as you point out Rotherham were under strength and defended poorly at times, however the quality of the goals were a confirmation that Warnock has done his job with aplomb, and if not handed a contract this could fall apart easily ,instead of increased season tickets we would see decreases and putting the club under even worse FFP , as you say see Rotherham as an example of life without the Warnock.

Yesterday’s crowd continually singing his name and the personal touch the fans applied to him at the end was testiment to their gratitude to what he has achieved in a short space of time and the team gets better with each game , you would have to bemad or stupid not to see with a few buys ,not too many changes ,a good close season, our club would be pushing the play offs.

Now comes the big question will Tan pay Warnock for what’s he is worth , and what NW wants , as I don’t think he comes cheap and Tan has been burnt before with OGS.

Yesterday I was taken aback how well Harris and Zohore attacked Rotherham ,and yes as you say Bothroydesq springs to mind when the chip went in .

Awful to see Rhyl being stretchered off he must feel crestfallen this morning having finally got near the first team after so many years of promise, I hope it doesn’t stunt his career.

For the first time this year my season ticket group were talking up renewal not down and in fact we maybe growing in numbers if this continues so Mr Tan hear this, you have a chance to be loved do the right thing, hand the man a contract and free up some dosh, so you can once again appear in your seat ,surrounded by happy faces, and even meet some celebrities which you obviously like rubbing shoulders with if, we go up.

After what we’ve seen over the last couple of months it would be crazy if warnock is allowed to go. The money just has to be found.

Rotherham were poor and you have to take that into account when looking at yesterday’s game but this result came after two hard fought victories over sides that are in the promotion race.

Confidence must be sky high amongst the players and if they can apply themselves and get a win over Fulham next week we will be in for an interesting run-in to the end of the season.

Zahore seems to gain in confidence as each game comes and goes, he has excellent pace which I think surprises opposing defences and his composure is much improved. If he could now learn to compete in the air he could become some player.

Great news from the junior side, Paul. Thanks for the reports.

  3. Matt N says:

    Thanks Paul,

As ever I enjoy your youth and dvp side reports as much as the main event as it is a side of the game a lot of us aren’t privy to.

A superstition of mine which has grown over the past 6-7 seasons is that we don’t beat the bottom side of the league. I therefore didn’t go to the game. More fool me! I suppose this runs along the same lines as your previous match report in that this side, Warnock’s side, confounds expectations at every turn.

Great to see Kadeem Harris showing the form that produced so many goals for him during his loan to then league one Brentford and starting to live up to the potential he has which won him the football league apprentice of the year whilst at Wycombe. And so too as you point out, many other players in the team. I must admit, I wasn’t convinced about Jazz Richards being able to play in a back four, but he has been pretty solid when I have seen him. And we are now week on week scoring goals in open play. It’s great to see.

    All the best.

  4. Anthony O'Brien says:

Let’s all hope that Vincent Tan has an overflowing guardiola. No, not Guardiola the manager! A Spanish lady told me very recently that “Guardiola” in Catalán means piggy bank. If Mr Tan dips into it deep enough, we can then surely retain the manager we all want.

What struck me most about yesterday’s game was the value of speed coupled with composure. Four of the goals exemplified that, and the other one on the list demonstrated the value of shooting with power. Now we have to show Fulham what we’re really capable of.

  5. Barry Cole says:

Like your DVp reports Paul as living so far away I don’t get any chance to see this games.
Back to yesterday’s games, I feel so sorry for Rhys it must be a real sickener but he will be back.
I want to be careful what I say now as it seems that people are taking me at my word lol.
But rather than look at Cardiff I have been looking at the opposition above us.
I still think the loss against Norwich was the nail in the coffin for the top six and I still think that will be the case.
BUT , I have had a sneaky look at the teams in the top six and notice a lot of games when they will be playing each other over the next month. The 13 points mean that we have to win four games plus to pull that back with huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday both having to play Cardiff late in the competition. I say that because if we can get over the hurdle of Fulham then I believe the gap will close steadily over the coming games. That’s where panic springs in and it’s usually us in that position so this is a change.
We have what really is a good run of games to mid April all of which are winnable.
The tempo that we have seen over the last month and I include the Brighton and Reading games I believe will stand us in good stead for the coming games.
It only needs a blip following the Norwich defeat and it’s all over but although Warnock is saying no promotion I would insist that is at the back of his mind.
We have made it hard but I have seen this done before by Crystal Palace and Sunderland so there is still a chance however small.
By next week I could be eating those words but somehow I don’t think I will.
    Onwards and upwards you bluebirds.
And for the fans that are watching carefully the Phoenix rising from the ashes, please come back and support the team again, things have changed for the better and we have in place one of the best man managers ever in Warnock and that goes for players and fans

  6. The other Bob Wilson says:

Afternoon everyone and thank you for your comments.
Russell, I looked at it from the point of view of more season tickets being sold if we are giving the impression that we are “having a go” this summer, but I agree with you entirely – I dread to think what will happen as far as ticket sales go, if we are preparing for 17/18 with a different manager and are most certainly not having a go!
Colin. I think I mentioned some where on here that I thought Zohore was as good as I’ve seen him in the air at Derby and I’d say he did better than normal in that part of the game on Saturday.
Matt, I’m beginning to take Jazz Richards for granted, but in a good way – he’s playing his way back into Wales contention I reckon.
As Warnock said on Goals on Sunday Anthony, it was good to see that all of the goals were scored by forwards – if someone had told me a few weeks ago that we’d win a game this season 5-0, I’d have thought they were mad and if they then said that all the goals would be scored by forwards, I’d have been calling for a straight jacket!
I mentioned in my piece that the Rotherham away support was, understandably, as poor as we’ve seen this season Barry, but I was still surprised to see how low the crowd figure was because I thought there was more there than usual – with the rugby starting thirty five minutes before Kick off on Saturday, I think there’ll be a lower attendance for the Fulham game I’m afraid.
